After the firing of Dr. Robert Lara, the interim Executive Director for ASI, board members and professional staff are working to carry on in spite of their loss.
The termination, which took place on Friday, Jan. 21, was not the decision of the ASI student board, but instead the decision of CSU East Bay’s administration.
An official statement from the ASI board states that “it was decided that Dr. Robert Lara was no longer a match for the direction of the organization.”
The student board refused to comment on details of the termination.
A spokeswoman for the University also could not give information of the terms of the firing.
“This is a personnel action, and the university does not comment on personnel issues,” she said.
Though there are many rumors about the reason for the abrupt conclusion of Lara’s service–most relating to ASI fees or the taxable wages of the Board of Directors–the exact reason is still unclear and no one is talking.
After losing its second Executive Director for ASI in the past year, the CSUEB administration seems to be hiding behind a veil of secrecy.
Dr. Lara could not be reached for comment.
