Vintage clothing has become very popular in recent fashion trends, and with the grand opening of Time Zone Vintage, many individuals have a chance to experience a unique style of fashion.
“I like to look around at vintage stores, some local, some in other areas of California,” said attendee Hannah Alcon. “There are sometimes a new shop that pops up here and there; I go check out, but no where I have ever seen with such a quality selection.”
Time Zone Vintage in San Jose is a shop that focuses primarily on selling and re-selling vintage designer clothing, jewelry, accessories and furniture. It was first established in 1998 on San Pablo Avenue in Berkeley, then moved to Telegraph Avenue in 2004.
According to the store’s website, Time ZoneVintage staff says, “We have always prided ourselves in our ability to help each individual achieve their ultimate goal in dress attire for that special event or function. Our staff is knowledgeable and competent about the various clothing eras and will outfit our customer from head to toe. We go the extra mile and recommend hair and makeup specialist to put the finishing touch to their completed outfit.”
In 2008, they relocated to Park Avenue in San Jose and this past Friday marked the shop’s offical reopening at a permanent space on San Carlos Avenue, in a historic 10,000 square foot building built in 1900.
The reopening of the shop transformed itself into an outdoor vintage fashion and car show for the community to come out and enjoy.
In fact, this was the first event Time Zone Vintage has hosted. Over 100 attendees came out to show support, purchase items to spice up their wardrobe and many even dressed up for a chance to win the vintage dress-up contest.
There was a plethora of gourmet vendor food trucks and push carts, indoor and outdoor local vendors selling eclectic and unique clothing, collectibles and a multitude of vintage cars, drawing in many spectators.
The music of the venue captured the attention of all the attendees. The band, “The Shop Rags,” transported the event back to the 1950s, as they rocked the stage before the fashion show began.
Following the musical stylings of the venue, there was a fashion show showcasing handpicked clothing from the Time Zone Vintage shop, ranging anywhere from the 1930s Rosie the Riveter look, to the housewife look in the 1950s.
The Time Zone Vintage was also open during the festivities and the store was a unique place to visit.
According to the shop, “In addition to our vintage clothing, we recently added new and gently worn designer label clothing (when we come across it) and resale high-end clothing, accessories and jewelry for men and women. This welcome addition to our vintage inventory has expanded our customer base, creating a new, exciting and fun way to shop.”
