Students, faculty, and staff at California State University, East Bay celebrated the grand opening of the WellNest, the university’s revitalized well-being hub, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony Tuesday afternoon. Located on the first floor of the North University Union, the WellNest centralizes several student well-being services, including the food pantry previously housed in the Student Health Center.
Peer Advocates for Wellbeing provide tours of available WellNest resources, including an expanded food pantry, hygiene items, and safe-sex supplies. The additions of a demonstration kitchen and study space expand access to campus support resources and encourage collaboration among peers.
“There are many ways it can help support students’ academic journeys or take stress off their minds. The WellNest is also a community space — so many people have different reasons for wanting to invest in wellness,” said ASI Director of Wellness and Recreation Matthias Dempsey. “Whatever it is, this is a space that reflects those needs and people, and we encourage students to visit it as often as they can.”
The WellNest is now open for all CSUEB students.
