Vixen Designs, a company specializing in custom, handmade Go-Go wear, lingerie and costumes, is taking sexy attire to new creative heights in the Bay Area.
Offering customers a full line of deconstructed and reconstructed pieces, Vixen Designs’ products range from everyday underwear to lingerie and costumes.
“Basically any item you want to revamp, or as we like to call it ‘Vixenize,’ we can make it happen,” said Shannon Hardisty, sole proprietor of Vixen Designs.
Still new to the market, Vixen Designs opened its doors in 2011. Although the company is newly founded, it’s a hit nationwide as the company is fulfilling numerous out-of-state orders, especially in Texas, New York and Florida.
“The outfits are quality, you can customize them to your liking and they were good with getting the product to me with in a reasonable time frame,” said Katherine Vanheulven, a Vixen customer in Florida. “It’s definitely a plus that the creator of these outfits is a nice person.”
Not only do customers enjoy the creativity Hardisty puts into the designs at Vixen, but they enjoy the pleasant customer service as well.
“I also run a small dance and model agency called Vixen GoGo Visuals & Model Hosts, and started making the costumes for my dancers and for my own gigs,” said Hardisty. “It was a way for us to have unique outfits and create something to go with any event we were doing.
People started to take notice and ask where they could get some and it just went from there.”
Though Vixen Designs itself is a fairly new company, Hardisty’s other branch of the Vixen enterprise provides professional models and experienced dancers to enhance any event.
With dual businesses, Hardisty is able to promote her products at every event. The GoGos wear the apparel and build future clientele from exposure of the designs.
In addition to relying on performances and special events for publicity, Vixen Designs has made its mark on social media sites.
Many customers have placed orders based on what they have seen and admired online. The company has nothing but good reviews on each site they are on.
Most reviews say “I love your designs,” express client satisfaction or are online inquiries of people looking to place orders of their own.
Hardisty said the pieces themselves are limitless, since each order is designed for each customer’s specifications no item is duplicated.
Themed outfits for holidays and special occasions are always popular. For instance, Vixen has made special outfits to fit the Mardi Gras theme as well as Valentine’s Day, which of course is the most common time of year for ladies who desire a provacative piece of lingerie.
The latest innovations to the Vixen line are the light up pieces made with actual lights. Utilizing LED blinking lights that come with a built in battery pack, Haridsty says their both convenient and easy to wear.
“Our light-up designs are quickly becoming super popular, especially for big music festivals like EDC and Beyond Wonderland,” says Hardisty.
This goes to show just how limitless their designs and creativity is.
“Honestly most people wouldn’t have thought to do what Vixen Design has, just look at the work put it to it,” said Vanheulven. “It’s not easy to come up with so many different designs. I know this because it’s difficult putting together cute Go-Go outfits for myself, so imagine making different outfits by e-mail to meet other people’s ideas!”
With hopes of continued growth and expansion, Hardisty hopes to “work with many more industry professionals.” She is also a big advocate for supporting local talent and business and hoping for amazing collaborations in the future.
