December Packs a Number of Big Screen Flicks 

December is finally here and with that comes cold, rainy weather, winter vacation, free time and the start of the holiday movie season. What better way to spend time than to grab a bucket of popcorn, a box of Whoppers and enjoy a good movie with your family and friends. This year, December is loaded with movies. This list should help serve as your movie guide throughout the holidays. See one, see them all!

ShameDecember 2

Filmmaker Steve McQueen brings us a film about a young New York businessman who is forced to come to terms with his own inner issues. A man who seems to have it all together is actually fighting with an excessive sexual appetite. He is obsessed with pornography and meaningless relationships, but his shallow lifestyle is thrown off track when his sister comes for an extended stay. She gets him to take a closer look at his life in order to figure out how he came to be way he is.

New Year’s EveDecember 9

New Year’s Eve is one of the most anticipated nights of the year; with that in mind, this film celebrates life at its best. It explores love, forgiveness, second chances and new beginnings. There are a number of intertwining stories taking place in this film, all in New York City. Packed with big names such as Halle Berry, Jessica Biel, Jon Bon Jovi, Robert De Niro, Ashton Kutcher and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, this movie is sure to delight.

The SitterDecember 9

This refreshing comedy is about a college student in need of a job who is forced into babysitting the neighbors’ children. What should be an innocent, easy money babysitting gig turns into a wild night of adventures.

Alvin and the Chipmunks: ChipwreckedDecember 16

The furry little critters whom we have grown to love are back for another adventure. The Chipmunks and the Chipettes are enjoying a luxury vacation cruise when things take a turn for the worse. Now stranded on an unknown island, Alvin and his buddies have to strategize to find their way back to civilization.

Mission Impossible: Ghost ProtocolDecember 16

After getting blamed for a terrorist attack, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and the rest of his IMF team are blacklisted. Now Hunt must join a group of semi-suspect IMF fugitives in an attempt to clear their names. Hunt’s mission is seemingly impossible, as he tries to stay off the grid while preventing another attack.

Sherlock Holmes: A Game of ShadowsDecember 16

Detective Sherlock Holmes is back on the case after Austria’s crown prince is suspected of committing suicide. Holmes believes the prince was murdered and is now trying to piece together the entire murder mystery, believed to be the work of the evil genius Moriarty. Holmes and his sidekicks go on a hunt all throughout Europe in hopes of finding this madman before he strikes again.

The Adventures of TintinDecember 21

This exciting cartoon is about a young reporter named Tintin, who buys a model of an old ship at an outdoor market. Soon after, a number of shady individuals try to buy the ship from him but he keeps refusing. To his surprise, he finds this model holds a clue to hidden treasure that was buried almost 200 years ago. Tintin must now find this ancient treasure before the bad guys capture him and keep it for themselves.

We Bought a ZooDecember 23

In this family-friendly comedy, based on Benjamin Mee’s memoir, a widower (Matt Damon) moves his children out of the city and to the countryside in an attempt to bring his family back together. Using all their life savings, they decide to devote their time into renovating and re-opening a struggling zoo they just purchased.

The Darkest HourDecember 25

A group of partygoers get themselves stranded in Moscow in the midst of a terrifying alien attack. These foreign creatures can see the humans, but the humans cannot see them until it’s already too late. Fighting to stay alive, this group must quickly figure out how to outsmart the aliens before they seize the planet.
