San Jose’s Jazz Summer Fest, with sunny weather and an exceptional jazz talent lineup, provided yet another moving and culturally entertaining outdoor experience for world and Bay Area residents and visitors.

Eight stages throughout the immediate downtown San Jose area hosted a variety of jazz bands, including classical, swing, Latin, contemporary and blues from August 12 to 14.

Swing dance lessons were provided for attendees of the festival and one stage was dedicated entirely to the “Next Generation,” today’s jazz kids who will mature into tomorrow’s jazz musicians and aficionados.

Downtown clubs, lounges, bars and restaurants hosted additional bands which made this jazz festival so expansive that it was impossible to consume in the three days it was hosted by the city, August 12 to14.

Among the more recognizable top jazz names featured at this annual block party were Dave Koz, David Sanborn, Ramsey Lewis, Mavis Staples, Trombone Shorty and John Calloway.

The sets were well played and great to listen to, the people of the Bay Area were outgoing and friendly and the city opened its cultural heart to the world in this San Jose event.

The San Jose Jazz Society has organized the annual San Jose Summer Jazz Fest since 1986.

According to San Jose Jazz, the organization provides “a variety of other jazz concert series as well as numerous jazz concerts and events” and “is an innovative educational organization whose commitment to education and the community goes back over fifteen years.”
