With all the new social networks available, communication is easier than ever. You can have access to millions of people all over the world, including people that many wish they could talk directly to: celebrities.
Celebrities use networks such as Twitter and Facebook to connect with their fans and even have casual conversations with them.
With blogs and sites such as TMZ also always showing us every move celebrities make, it should be no surprise if celebrities use their fame and publicity to their advantage and manipulate their fans.
Lady Gaga has over 14 million followers, Beyoncé, who has yet to even tweet, has over 1 million followers. These are arguably the two biggest artists in the world right now and they have people foaming at the mouth just to listen to them speak. Do you believe they are not using this to their advantage?
Over a month ago at the Video Music Awards in Los Angeles, Beyoncé went on stage to perform and at the end of her performance she rubbed her pregnant stomach as her way of telling everyone she is pregnant.
Since then she has been seen several times with a stomach that is much smaller than what was seen on that night in August, did she use a prosthetic belly just to be overzealous? Possibly, yet there was just no proof.
Yet just like that Beyoncé had just what she wanted, the whole world talking about her new pregnancy and not her latest album flop. It is that easy for celebrities in this day and age.
R & B singer Miguel has heard numerous rumors swirling around questioning his sexuality, then recently there were “leaked” pictures of him having sex with his girlfriend. Do you believe those were leaked by accident? I don’t, just like Beyoncé he wants people to believe what he wants and that is he is a straight singer.
I do not care either way if Miguel is gay, or if Beyoncé is pregnant, but all over the country it is the latest buzz and that is because the celebrities made it that way.
As in many ways we are the “consumers” of this, we have to be less gullible and not hang on every word our favorite artists and actors say.
