Rock legends Aerosmith and Sammy Hagar played their timeless classics at the Oracle Arena this past Friday as they kicked off their “Cocked, Locked, Ready to Rock” tour.
Opening for the group was former Van Halen member Sammy Hagar and his band the Waboritas. He played songs from the many bands her has been in over the years, ranging everywhere from his early years with Montrose to his works of today. Only pausing to grab a cocktail from his lovely female assistant, he built the energy up for the headliner of the evening.
Perhaps the biggest surprise of the night came at the end of Hagar’s set. For his last song, he brought out San Francisco guitarist Joe Satriani for a performance. Known for his fast picking, Satriani’s guitar playing with Hagar’s vocals combined two different styles from two great rock stars into one great song.
However, the headliner the sold-out show wanted to see was Steven Tyler and his band Aerosmith. The group, which has sold millions of albums and has been compared to the likes of The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin, brought their hard blues style to more than 19,000 fans. Hits like “Janie’s Got a Gun” and “Love in an Elevator” were expected, but some of their lesser known songs were also played.
The concert was one to remember. Good music, great acts and Tyler’s sequined cheetah print pants all led to a start of a great tour.
