A female sun bear at the Oakland Zoo peeked out for just a moment, allowing Pioneer photo editor Aldrin Bulayo to snap this shot. She spent most of the day hiding her face from the hordes of excited children trying to get her attention.
Sun bears are the smallest of all bears and grow to be about 4.5 feet tall. Sun bears hail from Southeast Asia and tropical islands in the South Pacific.
