Niners Play Football “Harbaugh Style”

San Francisco 49ers’ coach Jim Harbaugh is starting his first season off as head coach by making his mark with players, fans and opposing teams.

According to the San Francisco Examiner, Harbaugh has a past of creating rivalries, but with his 49ers starting the season off 6-1, he is exceeding all expectations.

After the firing of Mike Singletary, who was known for yelling at his quarterbacks and wanting winners, Harbaugh came in and changed the direction of the 49ers with the help of his coaching staff.

“Harbaugh’s play calling is aggressive and his team takes on his blue collar personality,” said David Martinez, 25, of Fremont.

As a previous NFL quarterback for Indianapolis and a head coach at Stanford University, Harbaugh does things his way and doesn’t care what anybody else thinks, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Harbaugh proved his reputation as he gave the undefeated Detroit Lions their first loss and a controversial handshake to the Lion’s head coach in week six of the NFL season.

Although he rubs opposing teams the wrong way, Harbaugh has created a bond with his players, especially current quarterback Alex Smith.

Jed York, CEO of the 49ers, said in a recent interview with Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News, “When you have a coach like Jim that believes in [Smith] and helps get him to a place where he can be successful on the field, that’s what it takes. You can’t just roll a ball out there and let a guy go play.”

Alex Smith has had his ups and downs being quarterback for the 49ers over the years, but this season Harbaugh helped his talents shine with over 900 yards in passes and over 100 completions so far.

“Harbaugh is a good coach and very passionate. The Niners are doing so good that they might even make the playoffs,” Kris Mestizo, 28, of San Francisco explained.

At Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, the 49ers had an early lead in the first half. With Harbaugh walking up and down the sideline, calling his plays with his hand over his mouth, the 49ers were able to keep their lead and win the game at 20-10.

“This was the first time since 2001 the 49ers have had a winning streak like this,” said CBS sports broadcaster Dan Fouts at the game.

It is evident that after the Brown vs. 49er game, Harbaugh is proving himself as a head coach to the now 6-1 San Francisco 49ers.
