The long debate of where to go on a Friday night for residents of Hayward has come to an end, thanks to Bijou Restaurant and Bar.
Located off B Street in Hayward’s entertainment district, Bijou offers cuisine with French and Californian influences.
Bijou’s upscale presence has been a welcome addition to Hayward, as spotlighted in the San Francisco Chronicle, ABC News and other Bay Area news groups. Local residents have enjoyed fine dining without having to drive to San Francisco or San Jose.
After regular dining hours on Friday through Saturday, the restaurant transforms their atmosphere into that of an upscale club, dimming the lights and welcoming live music acts.
Patrons can dance and drink the weekend nights away to showcased DJs and a full bar, complete with alcoholic concoctions such as their much talked about “Hot Buttered Rum” and “Kachumber Cooler” cocktails.
Cocktail prices range from $9 to $11, though the prices are drastically cut on some drinks and appetizers during Bijou’s Happy Hour, which takes place Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Some particularly delectable offerings are their Chicken Drumettes, glazed with a plum sauce, as well as their Bijou Frites, served with their special aioli.
“I live in Hayward and I like partying in Hayward. I believe in supporting our local businesses,” said John McDaniels, a long-time resident of Hayward.
With Bijou’s many faces, it also promotes “Every Thursday Night,” where live music is played from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. Supertaster, The Shotgun Wedding Quintet and Space Heater are just a number of bands that have performed so far.
Bijou also hosts “The East Bay Cigar Social Night” every other Wednesday for cigar enthusiasts who enjoy a nice cigar in good company.
