Adam Fresquez and Dawn Pino, two 2006 CSU East Bay alumni, are going to be featured on a new reality show on CW called “Shedding for the Wedding,” airing in February.
“Shedding for the Wedding” is a show about several engaged couples competing for the wedding of their dreams. The objective of the show is for the couples involved to lose weight through strenuous workouts and dieting over a three-month period.
The last couple standing will win an all-expense paid wedding of their dreams that “America will attend,” according to CW.
Each week, the couples will be faced with a physical challenge. The CW’s website says the couple who wins the challenge will receive a component to their wedding- like rings or the cake.
The appeal for “Shedding for the Wedding” is high among audiences right now, where shows like “The Biggest Loser” consistently bring in big ratings for network television.
Fresquez and Pino didn’t audition for “Shedding for the Wedding.” The show found them on YouTube, where they posted a video of Fresquez’s proposal at Disneyland. Producers contacted them and requested an interview, and Pino said their wait to see if they made the show was worthwhile, after they got the good news they would be competing.
The Hayward couple is very excited to make a positive change in their lifestyle during this exciting time in their lives.
“This reality show gave my fiancé and I the chance to turn our lives around at such a crucial point in our lives,” said Pino.
The engaged couples on “Shedding for the Wedding” each bring a different element to the show, and, according to Pino, are very honest with the struggles and victories this challenge brings to their relationships.
“I call us the ‘sappy couple’ out of the contestants,” said Fresquez.
Fresquez’s and Pino’s love was put to the test on “Shedding for the Wedding,” but the couple say they have come out of this experience stronger than ever.
“When things got hard, Adam was there supporting me and pushing me forward,” said Pino. “We never gave up on ourselves or each other, and because of that our love for one another grew even stronger.”
With a new perspective and lifestyle changes, Fresquez and Pino are excited about their future together. Viewers can begin tracking their progress by watching the show’s premiere on Feb. 23.
