The Mystery of Hall Graffiti on Campus

A crafty and cunning graffiti artist spray-painted a mural that was found on Wednesday morning on the bottom floor of Meiklejohn Hall, the third in a string of incidences on campus.

Custodians and maintenance workers erased the artist or artists’ work within a few hours, but the Pioneer was able to capture this shot, where silly faces and cartoon characters can be seen.

Earlier in the quarter, the dorms walls were painted with smiley faces, and earlier in the month, the arts and entertainment building on campus was also vandalized. It is unclear whether all acts are linked. While the graffiti is not incendiary, it has cost the university money and time to repaint.

No one is quite sure as to the identity of the mystery artist or artists.

“The UPD told me that they caught the person that did the dorm graffiti,” said Sakura Montelongo, an RA at the Shasta dorms. “They said it was the same person that did A&E, but I don’t know if it’s linked to this incident. I guess someone was really bored.”
