Campus Sports News in Brief

Men’s Basketball: The Pioneers were defeated by San Francisco State in the last game of the two-game series “Battle of the Bay” 78-72 on Jan. 7. The leading scorers in the game for CSUEB were Jacari Whitfield and Roshun Wynne who each scored 18 points. The Pioneers will host the Gators again Feb. 10.
This weekend, they travel to UC San Diego to face the Tritons on Friday, then to UC San Bernardino to face the Coyotes on Saturday.

Women’s Basketball: After a three-game losing streak, the Pioneers were victorious in their matchup against San Francisco State as they defeated the Gators 64-39 for their second conference win on Jan. 7. Brianna Terrance led the scoring for the Pioneers with 13 points followed by Marlene MacMillan with 12.
The Pioneers will travel to San Diego this weekend to face nationally ranked Tritons on Friday before facing off against San Bernardino on Saturday.

Swimming: The Pioneers will take on San Jose State Friday for a dual meet in the Spartans last home game.
In their last time out, the Pioneers placed third out of eight teams at the Finis Invitational in Long Beach back Jan. 12 where a school record was broken as the Pioneers’ 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team consisting of Alyssa Tenney, Sara Bonino, Bethany Hoopman and Jenel Lopez recorded a time of 3:37.89 to earn third place honors.
