Hayward:
The City of Hayward is requesting community input on future designs for the downtown area.  A brainstorming session will be held from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 at Hayward City Hall.

San Leandro:
The City of San Leandro unanimously approved a city-wide fiber optic loop at its last City Council Meeting.  The fiber optic loop will be known as “Lit San Leandro” and will fill approximately 10 miles of the city.

Union City:

The Union City Police Department recently launched a Crime Free Multi-Housing Program that seeks to open channels of communication between property owners/managers and the Union City Police Department.

Oakland:
As a result of recent Occupy Oakland protests, Mayor Jean Quan and the Oakland City Administration established ground rules for peaceful and safe demonstrations on Oct. 27.  Some safety requirements include, accessibility of first responders, no fire hazards and maintaining public safety.

Berkeley:
The City of Berkeley encouraged residents to preserve the environment by offering a free of charge Berkeley Home Energy Efficiency Forum yesterday.  The Office of Energy and Sustainable Development sponsored the event and instructed attendees of the best ways to preserve energy.
