CSUEB’s Online School Nationally Recognized

CSU East Bay’s College of Business and Economics boasts the only Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) accredited online business administration degree.

According the program details, it promises to “offer the skills necessary to understand the changing global business environment and prepare them for success in their professional careers.”

The program has garnered national attention as well, ranking sixth among top online programs in America by the Texas-based website Best Colleges.

However, this should be taken with a grain of salt, as the website listed the program as “an excellent value” due to the $265 per unit price tag without mentioning that that is quarter as opposed to semester units.

Nevertheless, the program has gained quick traction in the two years since its beginning.

“I think the program is successful because of the CBE people involved in the program; we have great teachers and an administration and staff who work hard to get students in and make it work,” said economics professor, David St Clair.  “In online teaching, it is easy to get distracted by the bells and whistles, but taking care of the basics is always most important.”

The program proves to be popular among older students who are returning to college after a long absence.

“After being out of school for more than ten years, I think it’s a great way for me to go back without having to sacrifice my work schedule,” said Julie Jeet, an applicant of the program.

“I find that online students in the BSBA Program are often older, more mature, and have more business experience,” said St Clair.

“I’ve taken online classes before and as a working person, they are much easier to handle as opposed to going physically,” said MBA student Susan Devi.

Applicants for the program must fulfill all general education requirements, have junior standing and at least a 2.0 grade point average to be considered for admission.
