Across the Bay Area, Immigration activists held rallies to denounce President Trump’s plan ICE raids scheduled for Sunday, July 14 in San Francisco and other U.S cities. Protesters in San Francisco on Friday, July 12 shut down the United States Appraisers Building and parts of Sacome St. Counter protesters attempted to disrupt the rally but were subdued by police. On Saturday, July 13 Berkeley City Council Member Rashi Kesarwani held a “Close the Camps” rally and assured immigrants that Berkeley was a sanctuary city. Just one day earlier, Vice President Mike Pence toured the McAllen Border Patrol in Texas and saw first hand the horrid conditions.
