Light up the Season

Downtown Hayward’s Light Up the Season event featured something for the whole family. Members of the Hayward High School Color Guard and Marching Band performed classic Christmas songs along with the school’s fight songs. Inside Hayward City Hall, there were performances by the East Bay Youth Orchestra, the Dancing Christmas Trees and the Mt. Eden High School Choir. Additionally, The Salvation Army handed out hot chocolate and coffee to kids and parents that attended the event. Even Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus were present, taking photos with everyone inside City Hall. Restaurants and Bars got in on the event as well, hosting a SantaCon and featuring live music by Jenny Hughes inside the Eko Coffee and Tea Bar. This all culminated with Mayor Barbara Halliday lighting up the Christmas Tree inside City Hall.
