Live at Noon featured its second installment on the Agora Stage last Thursday featuring Cal State East Bay senior DaRyn Merriwether.

It’s kind of giving her a way to say goodbye to the campus and showcase her gifts

The lunchtime event was put on by ASI for students to check out local talent.  It started in 2009 and due to a lack of attendance, took a break over the last year.

“It was birthed, because people were saying that ASI was not promoting diversity of music,” said Marc Cochran, ASI program coordinator. “Since then we have had country, rock, alternative and spoken word [on the Agora Stage].”

This year’s Live at Noon series included DJ Quam, DaRyn Merriwether and concluded with The Wanders on Wednesday.

Cochran explained that he asked Merriwether to sing because she was the winner of “Showtime at the Apollo” last year and it was her senior year.

“It’s kind of giving her a way to say goodbye to the campus and showcase her gifts,” said Cochran.

There aren’t any other Live at Noon events planned for the fall quarter and students can expect to see more local artists during the spring quarter.
