The annual computer and video game industry convention, where the next generation of gaming software hits the market, is expected to show off high intensity games including Street Fighter V, one of the longest running franchises in gaming.

“Most years, it’s a giant spectacle. Loud music, lights, and tons of people. It’s a bit overwhelming if it’s your first time.” says Sophia Tong the Global Editor-in-Chief for GamesRadar+.

The computer and video game industry has a few major conventions each year and the Electronic Entertainment Expo, E3, is one of the largest on the calendar.

Developers will show the new video games and related products to the press. The general public, which is not allowed into the convention, will learn about the games from the press through a wave of articles published to online news outlets such as GamesRadar+, IGN, and Gamespot. It is scheduled to take place June 16-18, 2015, at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

This year a new set of games will be announced that gamers hope will include titles such as Street Fighter V, and possibly Fallout 4 as industry sources have said based on preparations made for a trailer.

Past conventions have seen big name titles from developers such as Sony which announced their PlayStation TV and showed off their new game Bloodborne. Nintendo also released information about the new Zelda game, due out in 2016, and teased a Star Fox game which is under development says Tong.

“Mainly I’m just looking forward to games like Street Fighter and also an expansion to Hearthstone and Overwatch from Blizzard, ” says Ning Zhang an avid gamer. He echoes the sentiments of many consumers. Street Fighter has been around for almost 28 years and Hearthstone, a free to play game, is heavily supported by its developer, Blizzard, since its release the past year.

The convention is attended by people who are employed by the video game or computer industry. The big companies are there with big booths and exhibits to showcase their new products, but there will be independent developers as well. They are also called “indie” developers and they tend to be smaller companies that are trying to create their own product to compete in the video game industry.

“As a smaller developer we are focusing more on our product development instead of marketing to others in the industry,” says John Tang a software developer for a start up mobile game company who asked to remain anonymous.

The convention is financed by E3. Developers foot the cost of their individual booths. As technology overall has advanced with the use of the Internet many presentations at the convention can be viewed live online on sites such as Twitch. So even though the public can’t be on the convention room floor they can experience the convention spirit and still see what new games are coming out just as quickly as the press can.
