“What are your thoughts about a recent survey that suggests majority of Americans want the US to lose in the World Cup?”

According to a survey conducted by The New York Times on June 10, 2014, of 19 countries polled what team they were rooting against, the USA team was the only team listed as the top answer by more than three countries. The 2014 FIFA World Cup is the 20th such tournament and began on Thursday, June 12 in Brazil, with the final game scheduled for July 13.

“I think that’s sad because it’s showing that there is a lack of morale and pride for America. Pride for America is going down the tubes. They’re rooting against the home team. That’s sad.”

“I guess they favor other teams more than the U.S.”

“I think it’s expected. There’s a lot of sports out here. I think soccer is not even like the 4th or 5th best sport out here. There’s a lot of different options.”

“I wouldn’t be surprised at all. I bet the other countries probably have the same point of views too about their own country as well. It could be better teams. It could be the players as well, the statistics of the players. It could be that too.”
